- Select the position of the stair treads on the stairs and mark the outlines, see figure 1:
a. start at the top of the stairs,
b. work from the top to the bottom of the stairs.
Tip:
When placing the stair treads on a bended staircase the optimum position of the stair treads is achieved when they form a flowing move. In most cases, the stair treads will then not be placed in the middle of the stairs.
- The bottom of the stair tread; the side on which the adhesive has to be applied, should be clean, grease free and dry. Normally, if the stair treads are newly unpacked there is no need to make them grease free.
- Apply the double sided tape according to figure 2. At this stage do not yet remove the cover of the double sided tape
- Put the stair treads on the bottom (lowest) step of the stairwells.
- If all steps are dry you can start applying the stair treads. Work in the following sequence:
a. remove the cover of the tape from the stair tread you are going to apply to the bottom step of the stairs,
b. stick the stair tread to the bottom step according figure 3,
c. stick the remaining stair treads in the same manner working from bottom to top.
